I have the easiest, cheesiest, butteriest appetizer recipe today that's perfect for the holidays. And they are mini, therefore they are cute as heck.
These little love bites are filled with caramelized onions, stuffed to the brim with gruyere, and baked until bubbly and golden. These take a little time to make, but most of it is caramelizing the onions. Otherwise, these are easy to throw together in pinch, and can be made ahead of time if needed.
If there's going to be a lot of people where you are serving these, I suggest doubling the recipe. They will disappear fast. My designated taste tester/boyfriend couldn't get enough of these.
I'll admit that I had way too much fun with these pictures, they turned out so pretty and Christmassy with the lights and tree in the background. The Christmas tree has been a battle with Percy, ha. Out of all the comfy places to lay and sleep, including his cat tree, he has decided that the branches half way up the tree are the best. Sigh. Do you have cats that terrorize the Christmas tree too?
Ugh, that bite though. Cheesy and sweet from the onions. The freaking best ever.
